Memory Care

What is Memory Care?

An Alzheimer’s & Dementia Memory Care Community is for people with middle to late-stage memory conditions. Often located in larger Assisted Living types of communities or smaller residential settings, memory care facilities and communities specialize in special needs care and may also have the actual building set up to enhance memory functions and decrease potential confusion for memory care residents.

Activities focused on memory recall from past experiences are usually the staple of activities in these settings. People who are appropriate for this setting are usually those already residing in an assisted living environment who have begun forgetting how to perform daily life activities or who have been getting lost, wandering, or going in other people’s rooms thinking it was their own.

Memory care special licensing is required in certain states.
